Many workplaces will have existing trained First Aiders. This Covid-19 for First Aiders 1.5 hours online virtual classroom course is designed to assist these employees who are in the workplace and may be at risk in respect to Covid 19. As part of comprehensive business continuity planning and to ensure compliance with government guidelines, employees should be trained in COVID-19 safe work procedures.
Section 11 of the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005 requires employers to have plans and procedures for emergencies and people trained to implement those plans.
Section 7B in the Return to Work Safely Protocol COVID-19 state that “In the event that first aid is required in the workplace it may not be possible to maintain a distance of 2 metres. Workers with a specific role in acting as first responders should be provided with updated training on infection prevention and control principles including performance of hand hygiene and appropriate use of personal protective equipment when delivering first aid.”
Course Aims:
The aim of this course is to provide trained First Aid Responders with the knowledge and skills that will be required to prevent the spread of COVID-19 that could otherwise result from the provision of first aid within the workplace and to ensure that they are provided with updated training on infection prevention and control principles, including performance of hand hygiene and appropriate use of personal protective equipment when delivering first aid.
