Our Mental Health Workshop:

The Mental Health First Response workshop will explore the REACH Approach focusing on the connection between mind and body through the lense of Polyvagal Theory. The workshop will help participants understand the key aspects of Mental Health and how to recognise distinctive signs and symptoms of Mental ill health.

The REACH Approach teaches participants how to look after their own mental health and thereafter assist somebody that is suffering with mental ill health. It focuses on the connection  between mind and body through understanding of the Vagus Nerve. The workshop will help participants understand the key aspects of Mental Health and how to recognise distinctive signs and symptoms of Mental ill health.

Meet your host - Carol McGirl

Carol McGirl is an experienced nurse and the director of ProTraining courses specializing in health and safety training. As an Approved Training Organization (ATO) with

both Solas and the Pre-Hospital Emergency Care Council (PHECC), Carol is dedicated to enhancing knowledge and skills in the pre-hospital emergency care field.

With her extensive background as a PHECC First Response Instructor, Mental Health First Aid instructor and a diploma in Polyvagal Theory, Carol brings a unique perspective to her workshops. Her focus is on the vital connection between mind and body, emphasizing the importance of self-empathy and mental health awareness. Carol is passionate about providing practical techniques for well-being, including meditation and relaxation methods, to help participants experience the mind-body connection and regulate the vagus nerve.
