Patient Handling

Duration: 4 hours

The training course can be delivered at your premises at any time. This course is designed to instruct employees in the theory and practice of safe patient handling. To comply with Part 4 Chapter 2 of the “General Application Regulation Regulations 2007, Manual Handling of Loads”, which states that staff engaged in manual handling must be given appropriate training. Safe Patient Handling techniques can reduce the risk of injury to both the employee and the Patient.

Who Should Attend?
All staff or individuals in the healthcare sector or those who care for elderly patients or family members who may need assistance. Maximum of 12 learners.

Patient Handling Course Objectives
On completion of this Patient Handling course participants will be able to:

  • Recognize a load which is too heavy or awkward
  • Understand the limitations of the spine and muscular system
  • Conduct a patient handling risk assessment
  • Lift and handle patients safely.

Assessment & Certification:
To receive certification for patient handling, all learners must successfully complete both the theory & practical components of the course. Certificate of Competence will be issued to all learners who successfully complete & pass this course.
